Years of varied electrical and mechanical experience followed with mining companies such as Wilroy, Cominco and AMC Harrison. In 1969, Largo joined INCO Limited in Sudbury, and quickly became recognized as an industry expert in mine hoist plant and shaft conveyance systems. In the 70’s, Largo was certified by Logan Engineering as the only ‘expert’ outside the company in their specialized Logan Lilly Mechanical Safety Controller for mine hoists and presented many courses to maintenance personnel in the mining industry. Largo Albert was the chairman of the Ontario Mining Association Hoist Plant Committee for 15 years until his retirement from INCO Limited in 1992. Largo authored and presented many technical papers for the CIM, and was a CIM Distinguished Lecturer, a recipient of the CIM Donald J McParland Memorial Medal and was made a Fellow and a Life Member of the CIM.
